What to Say on a Talk Line: First 5 Minutes

Updated 28 October 2026

The question every caller asks is the same: what do I actually say? The honest answer is that you need less than you think. A talk line call runs on small, ordinary sentences, and the caller does half the work. This guide gives you a minute-by-minute plan for the first five minutes, openers for each style of line, replies for when you are stuck and a list of things to avoid. Every number on Dirty Talking costs £1.00 a minute plus your network’s access charge, so a good plan helps you enjoy every minute you pay for.

In this guide

The first five minutes, minute by minute

Minute one: hello

Say hello, give a first name (any name you like) and ask how her night is going. Keep your voice low and unhurried. This minute costs the same as any other, so there is no prize for rushing.

Minute two: set the mood

Tell her what kind of evening you are having. “Long day, in need of someone naughty” is a complete sentence and it tells her everything. Callers use this to pick their tone.

Minute three: ask for something small

A request is easier to say than a statement. “Tell me what kind of trouble you like” puts her in charge of the next few sentences and gives you time to listen and settle.

Minute four: answer her bolder

Whatever she says, reply with a slightly bolder version. If she is teasing, tease back with more. If she is blunt, be blunter. Matching and then raising is the engine of all good dirty talk.

Minute five: say what you want

By now you are warm and the words come easier. Say what you are in the mood for, in your own words. The call can go anywhere from here, and you set the pace.

Openers by style

Each style on the site has its own personality, so a different first line suits each one. All are suggestive rather than explicit, which is a good place to begin.

  • Filthy Mouth: “I have been thinking about ringing all day and I am not going to be polite about it.”
  • Easy Does It: “This is my first time. Be kind, and then be a bit naughty.”
  • Give the Orders: “I have got a few ideas and you are going to listen carefully.”
  • Take the Orders: “Good evening. I am going to tell you exactly what to do.”
  • Posh and Dirty: “Splendid voice. Is it always that polite?”
  • Wives Night Out: “Is that a glass of wine I can hear? Mine is empty and my head is full of bad ideas.”
  • Asian Talk: “I have heard you are straight to the point. Prove it.”
  • Been Around: “Tell me the story you have not told anybody yet.”
  • Scene Setters: “Go on, set the scene, and I will play along.”
  • Never Enough: “I hear you never get tired. Let us test that.”

Replies for when you are stuck

Keep a handful of these in your pocket and use them without shame:

  • “Say that again, slowly.” (Buys time and flatters her.)
  • “Go on.” (Two words that keep her talking.)
  • “And then what?” (Turns the call into a story, which she will build.)
  • “I like where this is going.” (Positive feedback keeps the call warm.)
  • “You are a bad influence.” (Light, playful, always fits.)
  • “I need a second, you have rattled me.” (Honest and flattering.)

Good questions to ask

Questions take the pressure off you and make her work, which is what the caller expects. Try these:

  • “What is the naughtiest thing you have been asked today?”
  • “Do you like to lead or follow?”
  • “What would you say if nobody was listening?”
  • “What is the best opening line anyone has used on you?”
  • “If you could pick the scene, what would it be?”

What to avoid

  • Insults and aggression. Callers hang up on them, and rightly. Dirty is fine, nasty is not.
  • Anything involving under-18s. It is never acceptable, and calls may be reported.
  • Personal details. Do not give your surname, address, workplace or bank details. A first name or a nickname is enough.
  • Pushing past a no. If she declines a topic, move on. Respect works both ways.
  • Trying to arrange a meeting. This is an adult entertainment chat service with no possibility of meeting expressed or implied.

Ending the call well

You can hang up whenever you like, but a short sign-off leaves a good impression: “That was fun. Thank you.” If you want to try someone else, choose a different number. The list of dirty talk lines has thirty to pick from. If you want to know what happens between dialling and hanging up, read how a dirty talk call works.

Mid-call lines that keep it going

Once you are past the opening, you need ways to keep the energy up without stalling. These work on almost any style of line:

  • Build on her words. Repeat a phrase she used and add something. “A bad influence, you said. How bad?”
  • Change the setting. “Imagine we are somewhere else.” A new scene refreshes a tired conversation.
  • Give a compliment. “You have a lovely voice” is true, warm and always welcome.
  • Tell a short story. Two or three sentences about something that happened to you, then ask what she would have done.
  • Ask for her opinion. “Which would you choose?” gives her a decision to make and the call a new direction.

Use humour

The best dirty talk is funny. A joke about your own nerves, a groan at a terrible pun or a raised-eyebrow tone for a cheeky remark relaxes both of you and makes the explicit parts feel natural instead of forced. If you are unsure, aim for playful over serious; callers vastly prefer it.

Avoid mocking the caller or putting her down. Tease, do not insult. A good test: would you say it if she were laughing with you? If yes, go ahead.

Pace and silence

New callers often talk too fast. Slow down, leave gaps and let the caller respond. Silence on a phone call feels longer than it is, and a short pause tends to build tension rather than kill it. If you are worried, fill the pause with a breath or a quiet “mm” rather than a rushed sentence.

Questions people ask

What do you say first on a dirty talk line?

Say hello, give a first name and ask how her evening is going. After a minute, tell her what mood you are in. That is enough to start.

Do I need to use rude words?

No. Suggestion and tone do much of the work, and callers follow your lead. Use as much or as little explicit language as you feel like.

What if she says something I do not like?

Say so, or change the subject, or hang up. You are in charge of the call and do not need to justify it.

Should I use my real name?

You can use any first name or nickname. There is no need to give your real name or any personal details.

How long should the first call be?

Ten minutes is a good trial. At £1.00 per minute plus your network’s access charge, that is about £10 plus the access charge.

Can I ask for a particular scene?

Yes. Scene Setters has three role-play lines, and callers on any number are happy to try a scenario if you suggest one.

Feeling ready? Pick a line and make the call.

18+ only. Calls cost £1.00 per minute plus your network’s access charge. You must have the bill payer’s permission. Photos are for entertainment only and are not the callers.
